TE Deutsch 983 Aerospace Connectors

TE Connectivity’s 983 series connectors are designed to withstand the harshest of environments typically found on military and commercial aircraft. Whether that means high temperature, high vibration. corrosion resistance or hermetic sealing, the 983 range will meet the challenge.

2 versions are available. The stainless steel version is used in the harshest critical performance areas, such as engines, fuel management, auxiliary power units, external lighting & sensors, and landing gear. The aluminium version is primarily used in cargo compartments and holds.

Qualified to EN2997 for both stainless steel and aluminium versions
Also qualified to ESC10, Boeing BACC63 and Airbus ABS specifications
Excellent EMI & lightning resistance through shell-shell bottoming, an EMI grounding ring, and 360˚ rear accessory teeth which improve performance when back shells are correctly tightened
High temperature performance – up to 260˚C
Self-locking mechanism on the coupling nut provides superior vibration performance
Excellent corrosion resistance – stainless steel parts meet the 500 hour salt spray requirement
Thermoset and fluorinated silicon insulators provide fireproof protection as per EN2591 and resistance to fluids

On Aerospace applications, weight saving is a critical consideration. The 983 series provides an ideal solution by incorporating an integral back shell
The contacts used are qualified to EN3155, giving additional high vibration performance
Hermetic versions employ glass to metal sealing and are used in a range of applications subject to fuel immersion or high pressure and vacuum.

Series 983 connectors are intermateable and interchangeable with connectors conforming to MIL-DTL-83723. Connectors to MIL-DTL-83723 offer excellent performance in withstanding high temperatures and high vibration, but with the increase in demands in today’s aviation industry there is a requirement for an even higher level of performance and reliability. That’s where the 983 series proves the ideal solution, giving significant improvements in EMI protection, environmental sealing, temperature rating and anti-vibration protection.
