Quality Engineer


Aerco is one of the longest established stockist and distributors in the UK of electro mechanical components, supplying manufacturers and service companies within the aerospace, defence, medical, industrial, rail and transportation markets throughout the world.

Often serving highly regulated industries, operation of a Quality Management System certified to ISO9001:2015 and EN9120:2018, coupled with a program of continuous improvement are key to our operations and to meet our customers’ requirements.

Continued growth of the company has created an opening in the Quality and Continuous Improvement Department for a someone with the necessary drive to complement the existing team.

The Job Holder Is Expected To:

  • Investigating process and product failures; using suitable problem-solving techniques to identify root cause and necessary correction and corrective actions. Compiling information into 8D and Customer reports.
  • Co-ordinating RCCA meetings, delivering timely and sustainable completion of assigned actions.
  • Internal Quality Auditing and reporting against ISO9001/AS9120 standards and company process documentation.
  • Conducting and reporting First Article Inspections, up to AS9102.
  • Control of the company Measuring & Test Equipment; conducting inhouse calibrations and co-ordinating external service providers for externally calibrated/serviced equipment.
  • Maintaining databases of Supplier submissions and responding to Customer Compliance enquires to ensure REACH, RoHS and Conflict Materials are accurately dealt with.
  • Document control; approving Aerco’s Database of Controlled Specifications.
  • Review of Customer Specifications and Contractual Terms, identifying potential variations between Company’s standard offering and Customer’s requirements.
  • Creation and maintenance of Standard Work; implementing improvements to existing systems and processes.

Knowledge and Abilities Required

  • From an Electronics or Electro-Mechanical background.
  • Must have worked within a regulated industry, preferably with thorough knowledge of ISO9001.
  • Experience of working in the Aerospace / Defence industry, with knowledge of AS9100/9120 is desirable.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills; proficient in MS Word, Excel, Powerpoint.
  • Problem solving techniques e.g. Process Mapping, Ishikawa, 5 Whys, DMAIC.
  • Analytical, accurate and organised. Tenacious with a willingness to challenge the norm.
  • Experience of working in a LEAN organisation, that has implemented 5S.
  • Good understanding of the requirements of REACH and RoHS.

Salary £30k - £35k depending on experience.
