Insultated Standoff terminals are where the solder terminal protrudes from one side of the board and is insulated from the board.

Insulated stand-offs are manufactured with a male or female threaded stud top and bottom separated by a diallyl phthalate moulded insulator. These are used when a conductive path between boards is not required.
