Cage jacks are amongst the most versatile PCB connectors available. They have been used to connect almost every type of discreet component to printed circuit boards. The variety of leads that the range of sockets will accept means that most components can be plugged in this way.
Cage jacks are manufactured to accept mating pins from .020" (0.35mm) up to .080" (2.03mm) diameter. The most popular and largest range is the 0.040" (1.02mm) diameter.
Within each size range the connector spring is the same in each body configuration, the body style being designed to suit the specific application. The different body styles are often repeated through the different spring sizes.
Some popular products from the .040" (1.02mm) range. (This is just a selection to illustrate the range).
